First long play from one of the most famous and influential thrash metal band. You can ask, why this review here, Sepultura is not a black metal band? I can reply, yes, Sepultura is not a black metal band, but this release is a greater degree black metal, than Mayhem's "Deathcrush" or Venom's "Black Metal".
Before this album, Sepultura has recorded EP "Bestival Devastation" 85', including five tracks ("Necromancer" was originally recorded for "Bestival Devastation"), and sound there was even more similar to black metal.
Churches will be destroyed
Crosses will be broken
He's laughing in blasphemy
Like a domination of death
(from "Antichrist" track, Bestival Devastation 85')
Later 85' EP was added to "Morbid Vision" CD like bonus tracks.
About musical constitute, this album was recorded on poor-quality musician instruments, on weak sound recording equipment, on cheap Brazilian sound recording studio, by Brazilian teenagers. So, you can imagine, the quality of the sound. But all band members and studio stuff had made the best that can be made for that moment with such equipment.
But, not paying attention to the quality of sound, this album is very interesting and experimental, and I think this album was influenced to development of such extreme metal genres like black metal, thrash metal, death metal. And who knows, might be if Sepultura didn't change their sound to more thrash metal sound, it might be not a Norwegian black metal scene, was a symbol of rising of black metal.
